Travis Scott’s Cactus Jack Foundation x Parson’s: Explained

Travis Scott is giving back to the community in a big way. The Astroworld rapper is partnering with Parson’s School of Design to launch a special fashion program.

As the first celebrity partner to ever do so, the Cactus Jack Foundation has designed what it calls “an authentic fashion design program” for interested high schoolers. Coming to Scott’s native city of Houston the program provides design education to the city’s youth to equip the next generation of designers.

The program falls under the umbrella of Scott’s newly-launched Cactus Jack Foundation. This latest nonprofit branch of Scott’s Cactus Jack imprint is all about the belief that “the youth should not be prevented from attaining their lifetime goal and is committed to extending educational opportunities to all, regardless of their circumstances to achieve their dreams.”

Additionally, the rapper is rolling out an HBCU Scholarship fund. The inspiration for Travis Scott’s charity is deeply personal. “Waymon Webster was a Dean of the Prairie View A&M graduate school,” he shared in a press release. “My grandfather wanted me to take it all the way through college, I feel there is a power in education so to be able to give someone the opportunity to fulfill that dream as my papa thought for me is amazing.”

Named after Scott’s grandfather and HBCU alum, the Waymon Webster scholarship fund will cover college tuition for students facing financial difficulty and who are affected by the pandemic – the rapper will handpick the recipients.

The scholarship is going to be exclusively available to students currently enrolled in a handful of HBCUs, namely, Morehouse College, Howard University, Texas Southern University, Grambling State University – his mother’s alma mater – and Prairie View A&M University, which his grandfather attended.
