Watch Sturgill Simpson Chat, Play “Breakers Roar” on Colbert

Sturgill Simpson sat down for an interview and performance on the latest episode of The Late Show With Steven Colbert. Simpson discussed his friendship with John Prine, revealing that Prine left Simpson his Porsche. He also talked about recovering from COVID-19 earlier this year, and he and Colbert reflected on their collaborative Waffle House song. Simpson performed “Breakers Roar” from his recent bluegrass album Cuttin’ Grass Vol. 1: The Butcher Shoppe Sessions. Watch his interview and performance below.

Cuttin’ Grass Vol. 1 features 20 songs from Simpson’s catalog, recorded with bluegrass musicians. Simpson’s last studio album was 2019’s SOUND & FURY. He accompanied the release with a graphic novel and animated Netflix film.
