Women Comprise Half the Recording Academy’s Executive Staff for the First Time in at Least 20 Years

In terms of race and ethnicity, there are now four Black executives on the team: Harvey Mason Jr., interim president/CEO; Valeisha Butterfield Jones, chief diversity, equity and inclusion officer; Purcell; and David R. Sears, vice president of education for Grammy in the Schools, Grammy Museum.

There are two Latinx executives, both female (Lourdes Lopez Patton, vice president of communications, and Laura Segura, executive director, MusiCares) and one Asian American (Rex Supa, vice president, production and business development).

In terms of age, a third metric used to gauge its membership, the Academy reports that two of its 22 top executives are under 40 and 20 are over 40.
