Grimes publicly clapped back at her partner Elon Musk after he sent out a controversial tweet writing “Pronouns suck.”
Musk took to Twitter yesterday to condemn users with a rose emoji in their handle, which, according to Mashable, is the “best representation or the symbol of the political group, Democratic Socialists of America.”
“Twitter sucks” Musk tweeted, putting a rose emoji in his own bio. He continued, “I bet no one on [rose emoji] Twitter even *has* a guillotine! Poseurs!”
However, it’s his follow up tweet which stirred some backlash: “Pronouns suck.”
According to the Independent, in a since-deleted response to Musk’s latter tweet Grimes said she “cannot support this hate” and asked the Tesla CEO to turn off his phone.
“I love you but please turn off ur phone or give me a call [sic]. I cannot support this hate. Please stop this. I know this is not your heart,” she wrote. The post was deleted soon afterwards. At the time of writing, Musk’s tweet is still public.
The pop singer and Tesla billionaire have reportedly been dating for two years and welcomed their first child together in May this year.
