How Highsnobiety Staff Spent $1,000 at Stadium Goods

Not sure about you, but online trolley dashes have become a new favorite hobby of ours as we look for inventive ways to while away those evening and weekend hours when separated from our friends. And whether said trolley dashes be fantasy or not, there’s a world of fun to be had, especially when we’re talking grailed goods. Sneaker and streetwear marketplaces such as Stadium Goods are particularly good places to indulge in a bit of virtual spending.

We enlisted the help of three Highsnobiety staff currently working from home, to talk us through how they spent $1,000 at the site. And although this cash was only figurative, we still had to set up a Zoom call to explain to one individual why they couldn’t “just have an extra $45.”

Please note — prices change with sneaker and apparel sizes, and selections have been made in accordance with the individual’s sizes

Nike Air Jordan 3 Retro “UNC”

Air Jordan 3 Retro 'UNC'

As someone who wanted to go to UNC Chapel Hill because of Michael Jordan and always dreamed of owning a pair of UNC PEs, this is the closest I’ll ever come to the latter. I slept on the drop, thinking they wouldn’t be going for that much on the aftermarket but boy was I wrong. So if I had $1,000 to spend, this would be my first add to cart.

Nike Air Jordan 4 Retro “Raptors/Drake OVO”

Air Jordan 4 Retro 'Raptors/Drake OVO'

The Nike Air Jordan 4 is probably my favorite when considering all factors, including aesthetic, comfort, and overall wearability. When this Toronto Raptors colorway was teased as an OVO/Drake release I was pretty excited, though when the retail version dropped without Drake’s signature (amid all the adidas rumors) I was slightly disappointed. This pair has his signature, so it’s a definite cop.

sacai x Nike LDWaffle

I may be a little over $1,000 now (I know, I cheated) but this is probably the most wearable colorway of last year’s best release. I’m a big fan of the double-everything aesthetic sacai has made its signature over the past few seasons and you can never go wrong with an all-white sneaker.

Nike WMNS Air Jordan 1 High “Satin Black Toe”

Wmns Air Jordan 1 High 'Satin Black Toe'

So, the first thing I would buy is the Air Jordan 1 “Satin Black Toe”, because I think this was one of the best colorways that dropped recently. This is also a perfect example of a good women’s shoe, where something as subtle as an upper material can change the look and feel of the sneaker.

Stray Rats x New Balance 990v3 “Alternate 2”

990v3 'Alternate 2'

My second choice was a little tough because I was sure to cop some New Balance sneakers, but there are so many great options available right now, it was a little hard to pick just one. Anyway, my choice is the Stray Rats x New Balance 990v3, because I love everything about these shoes: the silo, which is timeless, and the colorway – which kind of blends in the iconic grey shades and muted green and purple hues.

Wacko Maria x Converse Chuck 70 Hi

Chuck 70 Hi

Well, this pair is a little out-there and usually, I am not that into animal print, but… firstly, I love Wacko Maria, and secondly, I love 70s Chucks and lastly, I do want to bring some Joe Exotic vibes to my rotation now.

Palace Wise Up T-Shirt

Wise Up T-Shirt

Okay, if we continue with the TV theme, I think it’s fair enough to also show some love to a great movie “The Disaster Artist”. I know that it’s been some time since its release, but for me, this will never be outdated.

Stadium Goods Socks

Crew Sock

After I spent most of my budget, it’s time to look into small stuff. Socks are no brainer, it’s almost a default purchase after you buy sneakers.

Supreme Bouncy Ball

Bouncy Ball

Here, I am determined to spend exactly $1000, so please enjoy my selection of various supreme accessories. Why this bouncy ball? I honestly don’t know, but I want it.

Supreme Parachute Toy

Parachute Toy

This I can actually use.

Supreme Shower Cap

Shower Cap

And this I can start using. Or maybe I will turn it into something else (maybe a DIY version of the parachute toy, so I have a couple…) And boom – $1000 is spent.

Nike Air Jordan 1 Retro High “Shadow”

Air Jordan 1 Retro High 'Shadow'

I’ll start off with an obvious pick – The Jordan 1 ‘Shadow’. Had I had a grand to splash, copping an AJ1 would be a no-brainer. The Shadows are as sleek today as they were upon the initial release in 1985 and resell prices on these are never too steep.

Converse Chuck 70 Hi “Denim”

Chuck 70 Hi 'Denim'

For $90, why not invest in the most iconic shoe of all time (don’t come at me). The ‘Non-Skids’, today known as the Chuck 70s, might not be the typical cop at resale, but this one’s justifiable. I’ve had my eyes on the triple denim since it dropped in August last year, and now might be the time to cop. Chucks have been around for 103 years by now, and similar to the material, they just age well.

Nike SB Dunk High Premium “Plum”

Dunk High Premium 'Plum'

It’s been a busy two years for the Nike SB Dunk. 2019 truly marked the comeback of the staple, and so far 2020’s been following its lead. One of the bigger Dunk drops this year was the Dunk Low “Plums,” but for me the High iteration (also known as the Daybreak) will always be better. Dig the Dunk frenzy or not, this shoe slaps – hard.

Carhartt WIP x Nike Air Force 1 ’07 PRM

Air Force 1 '07 PRM

Summer is coming, and it might not be the time to sport the Carhartt Air Forces, but I’ll happily put these on ice till Fall is upon us. Never got how this shoe didn’t get more love than it did. Don’t let the fact that people were sleeping on ‘em keep you from copping these, as they still sit for around retail.
