Disney Unveils New MCU Phase 4 Release Schedule

As part of an international response to the Covid-19 pandemic, Hollywood’s production and distribution has largely come to a halt. This also affected Disney’s Marvel Studios‘ meticulous schedule for the fourth phase of its Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now the studio has shared an updated detailed calendar for its upcoming films in a press release.

Most projects have been pushed back several months, but one film is coming earlier than previously scheduled. Scarlett Johansson’s anticipated solo feature Black Widow, which was initially set to arrive in May, will now be arriving on November 6, 2020. While The Eternals, Marvel’s new group of heroes, will debut February 12, 2021. This was originally Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ spot.

Subsequently, the rest of the upcoming MCU lineup, has shifted in turn. Shang-Chi is moving up to Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness’ original May 7, 2021 release date. Whereas Doctor Strange shifts to Thor: Love and Thunder’s November 5, 2021 release date. Which sees Thor move into the February 18, 2022 slot previously reserved for an untitled Marvel project.

The previously untitled Marvel project has now been revealed to be Captain Marvel 2 which is expected to release earlier on July 8, 2022.
