Tom Ford & Anna Wintour Launch Coronavirus Fashion Relief Fund

CFDA chairman Tom Ford and Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour have repurposed the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund to create “A Common Thread,” a relief initiative for those in the fashion industry who are being negatively impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.

The CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund was originally established in 2003 in response to 9/11, but is now being refocused to help raise and distribute funds for those feeling the effects of the coronavirus. As with other industries, many fashion companies are currently suffering from mandatory closures, which are ultimately leading to a loss of sales.

To bring awareness to “A Common Thread,” the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) and Vogue have launched the #CVFFACommonThread series where industry insiders delve into the impact of the coronavirus. The initiative is being highlighted on the CFDA and Vogue Instagram accounts, with contributions from the likes of Phillip Lim, Reese Cooper, Aurora James, Jennifer Miller, and Batsheva Hah.

Ralph Lauren, for one, has already donated $1 million to “A Common Thread” through the Ralph Lauren Corporate Foundation. Anyone interested in pledging can text THREAD to 44-321 or donate online.

To raise awareness of the @CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund for COVID-19 Relief, we are launching a video series called #CVFFACommonThread, which will tell stories about how American designers and their employees and colleagues are coping, how businesses have been affected, what we all plan to do to move forward. These stories will go behind-the-scenes to show everyone who contributes to this creative, vibrant, and incredibly important industry. Above: @therealphilliplim, @aurorajames, @batshevadress, @reesecooper and @__.xjenx.__ share their stories. If you are able and willing to donate to the fund, please text THREAD to 44-321, tap the link in our bio to hear each designers individual story.
