Harrison Ford Just Confirmed ‘Indiana Jones 5’ Start Date

Dr. Henry Walton Jones, Jr., better known as Indiana Jones, is back. In a new interview with CBS, lead actor Harrison Ford revealed production for Indiana Jones 5 will start in two months.

“I’m always delighted to come back to these characters,” Ford said during the interview. “You know, when we have the opportunity to make another it’s because people have enjoyed them. I feel obliged to make sure that our efforts are as ambitious as they were when we started. You have a sense of responsibility to your customers.”

He continued, “[I think] of the people that go to my movies more as customers than I do as fans. ‘Fans’ feels kind of weird to me, but always has. But the fact that these people support my business and I’m responsible to them for the quality of the service that I offer, that feels better to me.”

Indiana Jones 5 has been in development dating back to 2016. Steven Spielberg is returning to direct the film, just as he has with all the previous movies in the franchise. Furthermore, the script is being written by David Koepp.

The Indiana Jones movies follow the adventures of archeologist Henry Walton Jones, Jr., also referred to as Indiana Jones (played by Ford). Indiana Jones 5 is reported to be a continuation from the previous films, which include 1981’s Raiders of the Lost Ark, 1984’s Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, 1989’s Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and 2008’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. The movie is due out July 9, 2021.
