Jeff Bezos’ Australian Bushfire Donation Has Made Twitter Angry

Earlier this week, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos donated $1 million Australian dollars ($690,000) of company money towards the ongoing bushfire relief efforts. This seemingly charitable move, however, has been met with quite a lot of backlash. The reason? That sum is less than Bezos used to make in five minutes.

Yep, according to findings by Business Insider, in 2018 Bezos, the richest person in the world, was making that kind of cash by the minute. His income has slowed down a little recently due to divorce settlements (and buying rockets, probably), but he reportedly still pulls in $690,000 every half hour on average.

Of course, every donation towards aid for the devastation helps, but the internet can’t help but point out that $690,000 is but a fraction of Amazon’s $936 billion market cap. Find out what everyone is saying about the donation below.
