Disney+ Is Averaging Nearly One Million New Subscribers Every Day

As the streaming war continues to heat up, data shows that Disney+ is averaging nearly one million new subscribers every day. Research firm Apptopia reports that since launching on November 12, the mobile app has been downloaded 15.5 million times. This figure was given yesterday.

Disney+ is capitalizing on content from Disney and the likes of Marvel and Star Wars. The New York Post points out that people aren’t merely taking advantage of the free trial for the service, but they are going ahead and paying for the streaming platform.

According to Apptopia, Disney+ banked $5 million in in-app purchases in the first 13 days of use. Furthermore, Disney+ revealed that it earned 10 million subscribers in the first day alone. You can compare this to streaming juggernaut Netflix and its current 60 million paid US subscribers and 97 million international.

While Disney+ starts at $6.99 a month, data from Apptopia suggests that many are opting for the $12.99 a month package that includes Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+, as downloads for the individual apps are up by more than 50 percent.
