The Motorola Razr Makes a Comeback as a $1,500 Foldable Touch-Screen Smartphone

One of the 2000’s most recognizable phones, the Motorola Razr just got a timely modern revamp. After months of rumors, Motorola has announced that it’s bringing back the iconic flip phone, this time as an Android smartphone.

The Verge reports, that the new Razr keeps its flippable form but replaces the T9 keypad and small LCD with a 6.2-inch plastic OLED screen that folds in half. The phone will run on the latest Android 9 Pie operating system.

Unlike previous foldable smartphone concepts, the Razr turns a conventional-sized smartphone into a much smaller bitesize phone. Motorola promises the device unfolds to a fully flat panel, with no visible or tactile creases. Not only that, but the phone will also be entirely water-repellent.

The Motorola Razr will cost a steep $1,499, which simultaneously makes it one of the cheapest foldable phones on the market and dramatically more expensive than conventional smartphones. It arrives in January 2020, with preorders set to start on December 26.
