One of our favorite California brands is Vince. Season after season, it forgoes following fashion too closely and, instead, puts out timeless, luxurious collections through a West Coast lens. “Vince is the only luxury brand coming from California. That’s a really unique place to be coming from, and it’s a point of view I’m excited to keep exploring,” Patrik Ervell, Vince’s vice president of men’s design, told us.
For its Men’s Winter ’20 collection, Ervell and his design team reinterpreted classic pieces by playing with details and fabrics, which include cashmere, lambskin, and suede. One of our favorite pieces is the long-sleeve crew made of cashmere; it’s an effortless way to add luxury to your everyday wardrobe, whether it’s paired with a blazer or track pants. We asked Ervell what his favorite piece is: “Our black leather down-filled puffer jacket. It’s over-the-top luxury that makes you look kind of tough. That’s a tricky combo to get right.”
The collection features a broad range of pieces, from varsity jackets to hoodies to joggers to puffer vests. But these aren’t your fast-fashion variety. The colors are subdued and the fabrics are sophisticated. “The winter collection is a return to luxury,” Ervell explains. “It also feels a bit more grown up… something I think a lot of us are craving.”
For Vince’s Men’s Winter ’20 collection, the team embarked on a journey along the Pacific Coast Highway to capture the vibe of each piece. “We worked with a young photographer to shoot the clothes in a California landscape. That California light is unmistakable,” Ervell says.
We also asked Ervell where the brand is going: “I feel like we are coming off of a really loud and slightly juvenile period in menswear. I think Vince as a brand is perfectly positioned for what comes next.”
