After filing for bankruptcy earlier this year, Barneys New York might be closing all of its locations, ABC News reports. However, thanks to a petition currently in circulation helmed by KITH co-founder Sam Ben-Avraham, the future might not be so bleak.

“In a few short days we are at risk of losing a cultural institution that has been an anchor point for the city for almost a century,” Ben-Avraham wrote in an open letter accompanying the petition. “Its impact on culture cannot be understated. The brand as we know it today will disappear from our lives if it becomes an intellectual property license operation. Its unique identity, its point of view, its cutting edge agenda will be lost.”

In addition to the petition, Ben-Avraham is working on a final bid to try save the department store and is currently seeking more investors.

Barneys’ future is uncertain, while ABC News reports that Barney’s will be closing all of its retail locations, Reuters has previously reported that the brand was closing in on a $271 million deal with brand developer Authentic Brands Group (ABG) in a move that could keep some of its stores open.

Barneys filed for bankruptcy in August and at the time of writing currently has seven brick-and-mortar locations remaining. If you want to Save Barneys, too, head here to sign the petition.
