During a listening session in Washington D.C. this weekend, Kanye West has confirmed that he’s recently converted to Christianity.
As reported by TMZ, the announcement took place at a Jesus Is King listening party at George Washington University on Saturday. Though the biggest reveal was that Jesus Is King is now scheduled to be released on October 25, Kanye has also opened up about his recent conversion. “I want to let you know that I am not here for your entertainment this afternoon,” he announced. “We are here to spread the gospel. I am a recent convert. It means I recently got saved within this year.”
Kanye’s declaration matches a recent interview with his pastor, Adam Tyson, where he revealed the rapper believes he’s been “radically saved” and has banned people from swearing in his presence.
Following the listening party, Kanye West took his Sunday Service to Howard University for its homecoming weekend. During the service at the historically black college, Kanye spoke on criminal justice and seemed to double down on his previous “slavery was a choice” comments by saying “if they throwing slave nets again how about we all don’t stand in the same place.”
