Lil Nas X, Cardi B, and their collaborators on the record “Rodeo” are being sued by two producers who claim the song is “substantially similar” to their original 2017 track.

Don Lee and Glen Keith DeMeritt III, two Atlanta producers, allege that their song “gwenXdonlee4-142” was incorporated into the song “Broad Day” by PuertoReefa and Sakrite Duexe in 2017.

The plaintiffs claim Lil Nas X and Cardi’s “Rodeo” is a derivative of their original song in that it incorporates “Broad Day”. They allege that the rappers, “Did not receive permission from Plaintiffs to interpolate, sample, use, or copy the Wwrk,” and that they in so doing, “Created an unauthorized copy and/or derivative work from Plaintiffs’ original material.”

The lawsuit claims that both “Rodeo” and “Broad Day” are structured with the same measure and use similar instruments, drumbeats, and more. It also names Take a Daytrip and Sony Music Entertainment as defendants.
