Raheem Sterling Could Be the First Footballer to Play in Jordan Brand Boots

Jordan Brand is reportedly in talks to sign Manchester City and England star Raheem Sterling to a football boot endorsement deal said to be worth around £100 million (approximately $120.8 million). This is according to an exclusive report by British newspaper The Telegraph.

The Telegraph reports that Sterling, whose contract with Nike runs out at the end of the season and is one of the most sought-after footballers commercially, could become the first of many to sign a deal with the Nike subsidiary.

Sterling’s profile has risen in recent years thanks to his outstanding play on the pitch, as well as his off-field comments regarding the media portrayal of young black footballers and racism in English stadiums.

Jordan Brand,  traditionally a basketball-focused brand, has endorsement deals with some Major League Baseball players, as well as non-athlete endorsements with the likes of Justin Timberlake and Michael B. Jordan.

The brand has slowly moved into the football world through a deal with Paris Saint-Germain, which saw Jordan Brand outfit the French side in the UEFA Champions League. The Telegraph believes that football boots could be next. Jordan Brand has not yet marketed football boots.

Nike counts Neymar Jr. and Cristiano Ronaldo in its roster of football players, and a potential move to Jordan Brand could be an opportunity for Sterling to be the face of the brand, especially considering the reported figure of around $120.8 million.
