Kiko Kostadinov has his fingers in a lot of fashion pies. Not content with only running his eponymous label, the LVMH Prize-shortlisted designer has also co-founded menswear brand Affix, worked on premium lines for Mackintosh, and collaborated with ASICS on some of the hottest sneakers of the past 12 months. It’s a mystery how Kiko finds time, but he’s at it again with his latest collection. The Kiko Kostadinov FW19 line recently dropped in stores and at online merchants, including Montreal-based luxury retailer SSENSE.
With a fondness for looking inside garments and bringing their inner workings to the surface, Kiko is all about superior fabrics and unique cuts. Though his garment construction often takes on unexplored paths, Kostadinov’s pieces are ultra-wearable. The FW19 hoodie, boasting visible overlock stitching, will be a match for most ‘fits — as will this graphic tee. Also making our selection of the hottest FW19 additions is this merino and alpaca sweater, with an asymmetric panelled silhouette.
Celebrating the utilitarian history of clothing, Kiko’s ready to wear pieces are often heavily inspired by uniforms and workwear. These pinstripe pants are fit for a formal setting, while the silver hardware and press stud fastening features reflect the designer’s penchant for the practical.
