Editor’s Notes: Nike has officially unveiled Virgil Abloh’s latest collaborative collection, dubbed Nike c/o Virgil Abloh “Athlete in Progress.” After the designer announced his “The Ten” collection would be coming to an end earlier this year, it was widely expected that his next project would fall under Nike’s running category, which has now been confirmed.

The “Athlete in Progress” collection comprises a balance of performance product and post-run apparel and footwear, all of which are inspired by Nike’s retro running shoe design. Reigning 800-meter champion Caster Semenya stars in Abloh and Nike’s campaign imagery below.

“I started talking with Nike about this women’s running project last summer and at the time, I was very much inspired by the aesthetic and style of track and field athletes. As a result, I invited some of Nike’s elite track and field champions to participate in my SS19 Off-White runway show as the natural forerunner to developing and showcasing the collection,” says Abloh.

The track and field-centric collection, including three colorways of the OFF-WHITE x Nike Zoom Terra Kiger 5, will be released globally on June 27. An initial limited release of the sneaker and a run top and tight will precede the global launch, with details yet to be announced by Nike.

Pieces from the collection were unveiled at Abloh’s Paris Fashion Week SS19 runway show and then again by the designer at Coachella, when he was spotted wearing a pair of the aforementioned OFF-WHITE x Nike Zoom Terra Kiger 5.

Check out the sneakers above and stay tuned for further information on the collection and where to buy it come June.
