Back in 1995 Mortal Kombat was transformed into a feature film that is widely regarded as one of the best video game adaptations ever. Fans of the celebrated franchise can look forward to a new reboot, as Warner Bros. is now working on an upcoming live-action Mortal Kombat movie.

An ABC reporter based out of Adelaide, Australia, Claire Campbell, broke the news this week by tweeting that the Mortal Kombat reboot will be filmed in South Australia and that it will be “the largest movie ever filmed and produced” there. She also informed that pre-production is to begin this month.

Aquaman director James Wan has been tapped to produce the film, with Australian commercials director Simon McQuoid leading the direction. Furthermore Greg Russo will write the script.
