Wu-Tang Clan Just Got a New York District Named After Them

Wu-Tang Clan has been honored once again by the New York City Council. Yesterday, May 4, the city named the streets of the Park Hill area – the neighborhood in Staten Island where members of the group grew up – as the ‘Wu-Tang District.’ The ceremony took place after the council unanimously voted to name the area after the group in honor of their contributions to the borough.

According to the Staten Island Advance, the ceremony was described by a council member as “a great day where we have an opportunity to honor our hometown heroes, the young men who put Staten Island on the map internationally.” Watch Raekwon unveil the sign below.

This isn’t the first time the group has been recognized by their hometown. The council last year declared November 9 as an official “Wu-Tang Clan Day.”
