Editor’s Notes: For its SS19 lookbook “des AMIs” head for the countryside with Toronto-born, New York-based photographer, Mark Peckmezian. Peckmezian’s distinctive portraiture style is artfully paired with Alexandre Mattiussi’s SS19 pieces, situating the collection in its natural home, beyond the city.
The campaign coincides with the release of the SS19 collection, a mix of signature AMI pieces including tailored trousers and oversized knits alongside sportswear-inspired pieces and casual warm weather styles.
As in AMI’s SS19 PFW runway show – which used a leveled crop field as its setting – the lookbook makes use of bales of hay with the unorthodox edition of more than a few live chickens, reflecting the countryside theme at play. One day-tripper wears a green and off-white short sleeve shirts in big check Oxford cotton that perfectly encapsulates the breathable, ample silhouetted quality of the collection. He cradles a chicken for added effect. Others pile onto bikes and dive through hay bales in pieces that are appropriately durable yet effortlessly stylish.
The meticulous design allows for the kind of movement and exertion required for a trip out of town. Peckmezian captures the way items like the oversized “Ami de Coeur” sweater and the workwear jeans and jacket ensemble fall effortlessly. As noted in the runway review, the SS19 collection falls somewhere between sport and country, marrying the strengths of both worlds to present a balanced range, now available AMI Paris.
