Kapital’s New Fleece Jackets Might Be the Most Beautiful of the Season

Japanese brand Kapital is known for specializing in timeless but eye-catching workwear styles, all while staying true to its roots by utilizing traditional Japanese production techniques. In fact, the brand takes its name from Kojima, Okayama, an area widely recognized as the “Denim Capital” of Japan.

For its Fall/Winter ’18 collection, the brand recently dropped a series of sweaters, jackets, vests, and more adorned with particularlybold-patterns, with standout pieces coming in the form of a printed fleece jacket and sweatshirt.

The zip-up fleece jacket’s print is inspired by Japan’s dogis, a cloth used for martial arts which combines sashiko and hishisashi, two kinds of traditional stitching. What’s more, the plush fleece jacket is reversible, revealing a low-key nylon army-green side, and its zip pockets extend across the entire back.

Meanwhile, the sweatshirt comes in an head-turning whirlpool shape, which actually originates from the Ainu people living in Hokkaido, Japan, who believe the shape protects against evil spirits. The sweatshirt’s boxy fit makes it a perfect layering piece to throw over a turtleneck or long-sleeve tee.

Available online at MR PORTER, the fleece sweatshirt and jacket retail for $335 and $880 respectively. Scroll down for a closer look and click through to cop.
