Publishing house Assouline has released a new book documenting cocaine’s role in society.
Cocaïn: History & Culture by Armand Limnander charts the drug’s transformation from sacrality among ancient indigenous South American cultures and its medicinal uses in the 19th century to illegality and lines on glass tables during the disco generation of the ’70s.
Along with the book, Assouline has also created a matching candle with a fragrance containing a blend of Spanish amber, orris, oudh, cade, patchouli, and saffron. Each candle is hand-numbered, signed by Prosper Assouline, and contains the Richard Pryor quote, “I am not addicted to cocaine. I just like the way it smells.”
The book is priced at $50 and the candle costs $175. Shop by hitting the button below.
