Kanye West met with President Donald Trump at the White House on Thursday, much to the consternation of many who continued to voice their frustrations at rapper’s support for the United States’ divisive commander-in-chief. But as is par for the course on social media, there were still plenty of people ready to make light of affairs.
According to CNN, the aim of the meeting was to focus on “urban revitalization, workforce training, African-American unemployment, potential future clemencies, and crime in Chicago.” The president also signed the Music Modernization Act, which guarantees increased and faster royalty payments for performers, songwriters, and producers.
But whatever got discussed was quickly buried under a barrage of online reaction — positive, negative, and comical. We’ve rounded up some of the most notable reactions below.

kanye's phone password is the amount of hours he's spent doing research on any of the things he's opening his mouth about

What #KanyeWest did in the Oval Office is an embarrassment. He’s not out smarting us, there’s no game “we just don’t understand.” He’s just plain ignorant and high on his own fame that tells him it’s cool to coddle up to a misogynistic racist like @realDonaldTrump for headlines.

It’s good to know that while Florida is being pummeled by a storm and the dow is shitting the bed and a US “ally” beheaded a journalist that our president is having the world’s stupidest lunch with Kid Rock and Kanye West

This week Democrats saw Brett Kavanugh confirmed to the Supreme Court, Kanye West give Trump a hug, black unemployment hit the lowest level EVER, every Senate race tilt towards Republicans dramatically, and in return Democrats responded by rioting and calling Kanye a "dumb negro"

"[West is] an attention whore, like the president…He’s the token Negro of the Trump administration."

An entire town was leveled yesterday and thousands of people lost their homes, businesses, livelihood. But apparently today was a perfect day to pal around in the Oval Office with Kanye West and Kid Rock. Donald Trump is not a president. He’s a sideshow.

Turning Kanye West into a media spectacle, especially with all the cameras and reporters capturing his manic episode on national TV, was absolutely heartbreaking to see. Where is our empathy? This is on Trump, the reporters, and on all of us too.

Kanye West admitted he's been misdiagnosed, off his medication
& recovering addict from opioid. He's a threat to himself, society & everyone around him including his wife & kids yet he's in the White House ranting as Trump grins. His disorder is serious, his actions are ignorant.

Republicans: Celebrities shouldn’t have an opinion on politics!
Also Republicans: Elect Trump.
Also also Republicans: Bring clearly mentally ill Kanye West into Oval Office for a hug session with Trump.
