Apple’s Original TV Content Could Be Coming to Your iPhone & iPad for Free

Apple’s forthcoming original TV content will be free to users of brand’s devices, CNBC reports.

Anonymous sources familiar with the project told CNBC that Apple’s new original content will be available through the TV app pre-installed on iPhones, iPads, and Apple TV, along with subscription-only services from third parties such as HBO and Starz.

Apple is believed to be spending some $1 billion on original content this year, getting into the game as a rival to services such as Netflix, Prime Video, and Hulu. As previously reported, the company is focusing on “family-friendly” content, with two sources telling CNBC that Apple is on the hunt for “tentpole” franchises that could later prop up a subscription service based on the Netflix model.

Apple plans to debut the updated TV app next year, according to the article. Read CNBC’s report in full here.
