Priced at $2,295 USD, the steep price of this Creator Edition is an early version made specifically for software developers, not consumers. Inside the box, you’ll find the black goggles with translucent lenses, a disk-shaped computer, and a hand-held controller, along with a Fit Kit to ensure a perfectly calibrated fit, as well as chargers.

Unlike the computer-generated world of virtual reality headsets, this system produces an augmented version of the space around them, as the glasses project light into your eyes, creating the illusion of 3D objects inches or feet away, seamlessly combining the computer images with real-world settings. You can view a couple of the demos below.

Spec-wise, the Creator Edition is powered by its LuminOS system, and packed with a NVIDIA Parker SOC CPU featuring two Denver 2.0 64-bit cores plus four ARM Cortex A57 64-bit cores, an NVIDIA Pascal GPU, 8 GB of ram, 128 GB of storage, along with Bluetooth 4.2, WiFi 802.11ac/b/g/n, and USB-C for connectivity.

Right now, limited quantities are available to developers in cities across the U.S., including New York, San Francisco, Los Angles and Seattle, and will be hand-delivered by the company’s special LiftOff service who will help set it up.
