Nike’s SNEAKRS app, the EU version of SNKRS, turned one year old today, August 8. To celebrate, the SNEAKRS team hinted at a surprise re-stock of some of the past year’s most popular sneakers.
Designed to be “unlocked” via a scavenger hunt-type release, eight sneakers were made available, including both Atmos Air Max “Animal Pack” kicks, several Virgil Abloh creations, and the ever-popular Sean Wotherspoon x Nike Air Max 1/97.
To purchase the sneakers, users had to go to older, sold-out sneaker pages on the app and “color in” certain images. An example of how it was done is posted below.

Upon completion of the task, the sneakers were then unlocked on the user’s feed for customers to check out and cop — if they were lucky. Quantities were highly limited, meaning plenty of people found the sneakers were already sold out before they could even unlock them. And this, of course, led to a lot of frustration and general saltiness.
Sneakerheads took to the r/Sneakers subreddit en masse to air their grievances. Below are the best, funniest, and saddest reactions from the Reddit mega-thread.
