Chris Rock Is Starring in ‘Fargo’ Season 4

Part of the beauty of Noah Hawley’s wickedly inventive anthology, Fargo, is that each new season allows him to tap a rich new talent pool capable of bringing his dark — yet also funny — themes to light.

A recent announcement by FX confirms that not only is Season 4 happening, but with Chris Rock as its lead in a season which explores two great migrations to the big cities in the United States.

Set in 1950s Kansas City, Missouri — where two mob families (Italian and African American) have struck a temporary piece after each syndicate’s leader agrees to trade eldest sons — Rock will play one of the patriarch who watches when things are thrown into disarray when the head of the Kansas City mafia goes into the hospital for routine surgery and dies.

“I’m a fan of Fargo and I can’t wait to work with Noah,” said Rock.

One can only ponder if this Kansas City connection fits with characters we’ve already seen – like Bokeem Woodbine’s Mike Milligan character from season 2.

The show has certainly established an awards season legacy. Season 1 won three Emmy Awards — including best miniseries — season 2 won two Emmys, and season 3 garnered six Emmy nominations.

Season 4 of Fargo will go into production during fall 2019.
