For his latest photo essay, Lester Jones takes us to Manila, the capital of the Philippines, giving us a candid look at what the frantic city is all about.
Jones chose to focus his lens on the human aspect of Manilla, a place which is rapidly expanding both in terms of population growth and infrastructure. The result is a colorful, warm selection of images that are engaging and full of positivity.
Jones explained how consumer culture is impacting the city, saying, “Branding and contemporary fashion is not overly evident on a day to day basis. When you do catch sight of labels, the rampant knock off-market has you questioning the legitimacy of the product.”
The work builds on Jones’s previous photographic essays, which took us on journeys through London, Bali, and Hong Kong.
