This 1998 Mercedes-Benz AMG CLK GTR is heading to auction in Monterey. Courtesy of RM Sotheby’s, we get a look at the otherworldly supercar, which is number 9 of only 25 examples built.
The original Mercedes CLK GTR won the FIA GT Championship in 1998, while the on-hand version is road-legal. The vehicle is all-original, including the finish and drivetrain, boasting a mid-mounted 6.9-liter V-12 and a paddle-operated six-speed sequential manual gearbox lifted from the GT1 model.
The car arrives with the original owner’s manuals, service booklets, spare keys, and a first aid kit. After being delivered to its initial owner in Germany, the CLK GTR was sold to a private collector and shipped to Hong Kong. 12 years later, the ride was purchased by its current owner in the U.S.
Expected to fetch anywhere from $4.25 million USD to $5.25 million USD, this 1998 Mercedes-Benz AMG CLK GTR will be auctioned off on August 25. For more on the ride, visit RM Sotheby’s.
