Balenciaga is being sued by a New York City souvenir company, City Merchandise, over their $1,950 USD (original price) Multicolored New York Bazar Shopper. Originally reported by Fashionista, City Merchandise insists that the luxury fashion house copied their “total concept and feel,” going so far as to say the design is “virtually indistinguishable” from their own.

The copyright infringement lawsuit, filed last Friday in New York, also mentions previous designs by Demna Gvasalia — both for Balenciaga and Vetements — that have come under scrutiny for noticeable similarities.
As it stands, Balenciaga and parent company Kering have yet to comment on the pending suit. We’ll be sure to update the article as the story develops.
