Microsoft introduces its brand new Surface Go, a smaller, less powerful take on the popular Surface Pro tablet/laptop. Boasting a similar design to the Surface Pro, the Go is defined by its 10-inch screen, integrated kickstand, Windows 10, and starts at $399 USD.

Weighing only 1.15 pounds and measuring 8.3 mm thin, the Surface Go flaunts a custom-built high-resolution PixelSense 3:2 aspect ratio display that supports the
Surface Pen (sold separately) with 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity, low pen parallax, low latency, and precision for accurate note taking, drawing and computer-aided design.

In portrait mode, the screen was designed to render the page to the scale of most school textbooks, and in landscape mode, it can render pages side by side as if you were holding a paperback book in hand. In addition, with its built-in kickstand that extends to 165 degrees, the mechanism provides more durability for your workflow, and a Windows Hello camera allows for quick, and secure sign-in using face recognition.

Ready. Set. Go! Meet the new #SurfaceGo.

Inside, the Go features Intel’s Pentium Gold 4415Y processor with either 4 or 8GB of RAM and 64GB of eMMC storage or a 128GB SSD. The processor is a dual-core seventh-generation model that offers the perfect balance between performance, battery life, and thermal properties, allowing the Surface Go’s thin, fan-less design.

With up to nine hours of battery life and running Windows 10 for its OS, the portable device also has a slew of ports, including the Surface Connect for charging and docking; USB-C 3.1 for data, video, and charging, a headphone jack and a MicroSD card reader for storage expansion.

Furthermore, accessories can be purchased for the Surface Go, like an optional keyboard cover, providing “laptop-class typing” with a scissor key mechanism and 1mm of key travel, along with the Surface Mobile Mouse, and the aforementioned Surface Pen. Microsoft will initially release Wi-Fi versions of the Go, with an LTE equipped model to drop later this year.

From home to work to play, this tech keeps up with you.
