Angelique Kerber Wins Wimbledon Wearing Palace x adidas

German underdog Angelique Kerber beat Serena Williams at the final of this year’s Wimbledon women’s singles, and did so while dressed in Palace x adidas. The adidas-sponsored athlete, who was seeded 11th, faced down Williams in the Grand Slam final, winning 6-3 6-3.

Palace and adidas have been collaborating for years on football-inspired collections, but this season linked up on a special Wimbledon drop that focussed just on tennis, in anticipation of the sport’s biggest tournament. The collab dropped a few weeks ago, and includes pieces like bucket hats, tracksuits, and, of course, the sleeveless polo shirt that Kerber wore while winning tennis’s biggest prize.

Kerber is the first German to take home the women’s trophy since Steffi Graf in 1996.

Here’s why the Palace x adidas Wimbledon collab is huge for streetwear.
