Our Favorite Styles From eBay’s First Ever Community Sneaker Drop

The secondary sneaker market is thriving today with a slew of resellers cashing in, but there’s one OG player in the game that’s been a key resource for sneakerheads and sellers alike for decades—eBay.

Before you were able to step into consignment shops to cop that rare pair you missed out on, eBay was, and still is, the global destination for anyone looking to score new, rare, or exclusive sold out sneakers that weren’t available anywhere else.

Today, eBay launches their own curated sneaker drop at 10am ET with exclusive sought-out styles, some of which are completely sold out everywhere, available at Some of these pairs include The 10: Air Jordan 1, Yeezy Boost 700, Air Jordan 11 “Jeter,” Nike Dunk High “Wu-Tang,” and many more.

To celebrate the drop, eBay linked up with Los-Angeles based artist Joshua Vides who designed five custom Air Force 1s (pictured above) that’ll be sold as part of eBay’s community sneaker drop with proceeds being donated to GLAAD. Vides also unveiled a custom sneaker installation yesterday inside the Stadium Goods shop in NY. Shoppers can bid here.

We got a sneak peek at the coveted lineup with Highsnobiety editors picking their favorite pairs from the bunch. Peep the heat.

“An improvement over the previous version, Tom Sachs replaced the Vectran upper of the 1.0 with a breathable mesh, and added more traction to the sole of the Special Forces Boot, which looks great when paired with that natural suede and red pull tab. I have a pair that I’ve nearly worn to the ground, but this one I’d probably put on a shelf to display all the ephemera it comes with.”

Jian DeLeon, Editorial Director

“The InstaPump was super ahead of its time and works better today than it did when it first dropped. I love when a classic silhouette is reimagined with new colors and textures, and also believe that when a shoe is so loud, the ability for them to go with everything increases. This shoe can dressed up and down which is necessary when you want to mix classic slacks with a graphic tee and flannel.”

Noah Thomas, Assistant Editor

“The shoe that started it all. Every sneakerhead owes a debt to the Air Jordan 1, creating a generation that wanted to be like Mike and a culture that covets every kick he wore. It’s so sacred, many sneakerheads cried foul when they first saw Virgil Abloh’s deconstructed rendition of the iconic sneaker before making it one of the most hyped releases in recent memory. Me? I’ll take the OG.”

Ian Servantes, Social Media Editor

“Virgil Abloh transformed the Nike Air Presto model in a way that no other collaborator has done. From the original toe swoosh being relocated to the side and re-sewn, the new tongue being added, the heel now featuring an “AIR” strap, it differentiates from the standard iterations.

Virgil was able to successfully dip the shoe into the worlds of Nike’s traditional sportswear and OFF-WHITE’s reconstructive contemporary design style without a compromise between the two. Not many Nike collaborators have ever gone this in-depth before. It was easily the best sneaker of 2017.”
