Germany, the team that won the 2014 World Cup, humiliating Brazil 7:1 in the process and considered by many to be a leading favorite to win the World Cup in Russia this summer crashed out at the group stages after a 2:0 loss to South Korea.
The Germans ultimately finished bottom of their group as Sweden and Mexico advanced to the round of 16. The saying, “the bigger they are the harder they fall” has never rung as true as today. Germans and their national team had to withstand a torrent of memes and jokes at their expense after losing to underdogs South Korea.
To be honest, we wouldn’t blame most of Germany for turning their mobile phones off and staying off social media. As always, we’ve rounded up the best reactions for you to scroll through at your pleasure.

Football is a simple game. Twenty-two men chase a ball for 90 minutes and at the end, the Germans no longer always win. Previous version is confined to history.

Manuel Neuer: "We lacked commitment. Even if we would’ve gone through, in the next round or the round afterwards we would’ve been knocked out. We deserved to be eliminated. We didn’t convince in any game. This was not the #GER we all know. It was pathetic." #KORGER pic.twitter.com/qyfVJfB0R3
