Takashi Murakami Flexes Colorful Custom Nike Air Force 1s at PFW

Studio Hagel footwear maestro Mathieu Hagelaar has created a very special pair of custom Nike Air Force 1s for artist Takashi Murakami.

The flamboyant take on the iconic sneaker sees the upper festooned with Murakami’s unmistakable flowers motif. A luminous zigzag stitching pattern offers some lowkey pop against the white leather, while luxe OFF-WHITE laces can be tightened by an adjustable pull tab at the heel. Classic AF1 hallmarks such as the perforated toe box and “AIR” midsole text lend a feeling of familiarity.

Murakami wore the custom shoes to yesterday’s OFF-WHITE SS19 show in Paris, as seen below.
