A suspect has been taken into custody by police in connection with the death of XXXTentacion. As the New York Daily News reports, 22 year-old Dedrick D. Williams was arrested on Wednesday by the Broward County Sheriff’s Department, booked for first-degree murder and driving without a license. Williams was also charged with a probation violation related to motor vehicle theft.

During a vigil Wednesday night in South Florida, the rapper’s mother announced to the crowd that she received word from the police that they’d made an arrest, as you can see in the footage below.

According to TMZ, Williams is currently being held without bail. XXXTentacion was killed the afternoon of Monday, June 18 while in his car parked outside a motorcycle dealership in Deerfield Beach, Florida. Several eyewitnesses reported at least two men fleeing the scene. His management has since released a statement on his sudden passing, saying the rapper “touched the lives of millions around the globe.”
