Nike x UNDEFEATED Collab Pulled After Cease and Desist From U.S. Navy

The collaboration between Nike and UNDEFEATED has been pulled after the U.S. Naval Academy initiated cease and desist proceedings, The Washington Post reports. The move comes after social media uproar drew attention to the undeniable similarities between the USNA crest and the collection’s logo.

The USNA was unimpressed, questioning why the brands would modify its symbol for profit without asking permission. The USNA called out Nike x UNDEFEATED’s logo as “clearly an infringement under trademark law.”

Nike issued an apology via a statement on Friday: “We recently were made aware of our logo being included into a design that has been previously used by one of our longstanding partners. We have always respected the U.S. Navy and its Academy and have been a longtime supporter of the military. We do not feel it is appropriate to move forward with the collection. We apologize to anyone who was offended.”
