World Cup Skins & $100 Million in Prize Money Are Coming to ‘Fortnite’

Epic Games recently announced its e-sports plans for Fortnite during its live celebrity-streamer ProAm tournament. The main announcement was about what is being called a Fortnite World Cup, which will boast a $100 million prize pool.

The World Cup will be spread out over a number of different events – both online and organized – and major competitions worldwide.

Qualifiers for the World Cup will begin in the fall of this year, with the final stages of the tournament taking place in late 2019.

In addition to the above announcement, Epic Games looks like it wants to capitalize on the popularity of the real World Cup, this year’s FIFA World Cup in Russia, by making a number of football-themed skins available for users to play in.

The leaked designs can be seen in the tweet below.

Players will now also be able to land in a World Cup stadium when entering the game. And if that wasn’t enough, Epic Games has also included a juggling emote for those that had a hard time choosing between EA Sports’ FIFA and Fortnite.
