Designer Angela Luna is changing the way consumers look at fashion with this unique tent-jacket hybrid.
While some may look at the construction as a festival season must-have, Luna’s jacket goes beyond summer fun. The Parsons graduate was inspired by the global refugee crisis and went on to develop a two-in-one shelter, made to last all year round.
Did you guys know that the #tentjacket is also perfect for a day out in the city as a lightweight shell ? Literally #theONLYjacket that can be used for: 1) camping 2) hiking 3) daily wear . . . . . . . . #outerwear #outdoorslife #outdoorsy #techwear #urbanlife #hiking #camping #wanderer #adiff #giveback #sustainablefashion #innovation #socialentrepreneur #socialenterprise #withrefugees #homeless #nonprofit #kickstarter #streetwearfashion #merylstreet #citiesoftheworld #nyc #brooklynnyc #berlinfashion #losangelesfashion #tokyofashion
Made from a water-resistant, recycled PET, the jacket is designed to withstand temperatures of 50°F and above and features internal pockets, sleeve closures, and adjustable rib knit cuffs. As a tent, it includes a front door panel (which doubles up as the jacket’s hood), mesh ventilation at the back, and a number of zips to keep occupants and their valuables safe. Better yet, it can host up to two people at a time.
Luna’s company ADIFF is currently selling the crossover piece for a pricey $350, as sales are currently operating on a “buy-one-give-one-model.” Meaning, for every tent-jacket purchased, ADIFF will provide one free of charge to someone in need. If you’re interested, colorway options include “Moss Green” and “Burnt Orange.”
