As part of his youth outreach charity, Social Works, Chance the Rapper runs a monthly open mike event for young people in Chicago. On Monday, the event was specifically for students about to graduate and to celebrate, Chance brought out Donald Glover for a surprise performance.
“My next guest needs no introduction,” Chance said before the opening bars of “This Is America” starts to play and students rush out of their seats. Glover aka Childish Gambino then comes on to perform the song and even does a few of the video’s iconic dance moves.

This isn’t the first time a high-profile celeb has turned up at Chance’s events. In January of last year, Dave Chapelle made a surprise appearance at another open mike event.
Last year, Donald Glover announced that a collaborative mixtape with Chance would “probably” happen. The star explained, “I feel like if I don’t make a Chance the Rapper mixtape, like a double mixtape, a bunch of 14-year-olds will kick my ass.” Let’s hope this outing is a sign of future collaborations to come.
