Simple, no-frills black sneakers are a classic addition to any look. Unlike white sneakers, black kicks are more low key and you won’t have to worry about keeping them squeaky clean.
For women, however, finding the perfect pair of black sneakers (or most sneakers, actually) can be a challenge. Many sportswear brands still persist in offering women bright or pink sneakers, failing to acknowledge that women can appreciate all kinds of sneakers. In addition, many hyped sneakers still come in men’s sizing, making the quest for new kicks even more frustrating when you’re a woman. To make things a bit easier, we’ve decided to round up some of the best black sneakers for women available right now.
Our sneaker selection, curated by Highsnobiety Commerce Content Curator Rhianna Matthews, includes hyped silhouettes such as the Balenciaga Triple S and the adidas Originals x Alexander Wang Soccer sneaker, as well as Rihanna’s (the singer, not to be confused with our Rhianna) collaboration with PUMA, the PUMA x Fenty Cleated Creeper, and more classic designs such as the Nike Cortez or the Converse One Star.

This ACRONYM x Nike collaboration is a game-changer. The black and neon upper is a nice change from the typical hot pink/fuchsia colorways of many women’s sneakers. Not only are they dope, they’re also super comfortable thanks to the laceless construction and Air sole units. This is an easy must-cop.
Of course, we couldn’t leave out the epitome of the chunky sneaker, the Balenciaga Triple S. Luckily, this all-black model comes in women’s sizing. However, as well as being on the expensive side (retailing for $850), these sneakers also tend to sell out very quickly, so we recommend copping fast.
If you don’t feel like dropping $850 on a pair of sneakers, this model from Eytys might be the best alternative to the Triple S, thanks to its extra-chunky sole. We particularly love its old-school vibes — the all-leather sneaker, with its metal hooks and heavy-duty laces, takes inspiration from ’90s trail shoes.
If you’re into more classic designs, then look no further than these soccer sneakers from adidas Originals and Alexander Wang. The low-top sneaker features the signature Three Stripes and a Boost rubber sole. Although simple in design, the kicks have a suede and Nappa leather upper with luxurious details throughout.
Not into low-tops? Then the Vans Sk8 Hi is your best bet. Not only are they effortlessly cool, they’re also affordable, retailing at just $62. These sneakers are an updated version of Vans’ classic high-top skate shoes and will elevate any outfit.
These Nike sneakers are extremely comfortable, thanks to a Flyknit upper and React foam cushioning technology. They’re also super lightweight, making them perfect for summer, with an icy outsole detail that’s to die for.
These sneakers are perfect if you’re after comfortable shoes. The soft knit upper, midsole Boost, and arch support make these sneakers the ultimate for city running. And they look pretty dope, too.
These low-top Converse sneakers first hit the scene in 1974 and quickly became a staple in alternative culture. Thanks to the suede upper, the sneakers are perfect for any occasion, whether you’re going somewhere fancy or keeping things more low key.
Welcome Batilda! @acnestudios #acnestudios #batilda #acne #STOY
Of course, our selection had to include a sock sneaker. The sock-like upper makes these sneakers super comfortable, while the sculpted rubber sole gives them a futuristic vibe.
Acne Studios is clearly doing things right because yet another Acne sneaker has made the cut. Unlike the Sock Sneaker, these extra chunky creps give more throwback vibes, as they are inspired by technical sneakers from the ’90s.
Look who’s baaaaaaack 👀 The #cleatedcreeper is available in 2 new colors 💙💚 #FENTYxPUMA
We couldn’t leave out Rihanna’s collaboration with PUMA from our selection. The suede sneakers feature a crazy threaded rubber sole and will elevate any outfit, both figuratively and literally. Can Riri do anything wrong?
Nike Air Force 1s are a sneaker classic, so these kicks need to be part of our selection. The leather upper, paired with all-black colorway, makes these sneakers both luxurious and timeless. What’s even better, the platform rubber sole will give you a few extra inches, too.
Mother — the one who started it all for @Eytys. Available in Black Suede, White Canvas and Ecru Kendo.
A second Eytys sneaker makes the cut and it’s easy to see why. These simple sneakers will complement any outfit without any frills or extra details. They’re also a great affordable option, retailing for $77.
PRADA CLOUDBUST 💖
These low-top Prada sneakers are super futuristic. From the laceless construction to the bubbly rubber sole, they’ll have you feeling like you’re walking on clouds — and have your look standing out all summer.
The Nike Cortez is a true classic. Although the white version might be the most recognized colorway, this black Cortez deserves a shout-out, too. We particularly love the black matte Swoosh.
These sneakers from J.W. Anderson and Converse might be last in our list, but they’re definitely not least. If you’re into logo-heavy designs, this is just the right shoe for you. These Chucks scream J.W. Anderson and will have you flexin’ effortlessly all season.
