DJ Premier Flips J. Cole’s ‘KOD’ Track “1985” to “1966”

J. Cole‘s latest studio album, KOD closed out with the standout single “1985,” in which he serves up words of encouragement, and warnings to young rappers, including Lil Pump, whom he recently spoke to in an hour-long interview squashing their reported beef and more.

With the track also resonating with hip-hop veterans like DJ Premier, the record producer/DJ has just shared his own variation of J. Cole’s “1985 (Intro to “The Fall Off”),” with the “DJ Premier 1966 Remix.”

Cole’s original smooth, minimalist beat is simply elevated by Premier’s masterful rugged scratches and sharp instrumentals of horns and bass, so have a listen to the solid mixtape below, and don’t forget to share your thoughts in the comments.
