Hong Kong’s Gallery by the Harbour is currently hosting Prodip Leung’s solo exhibition, “Cult From Space,” which features a series of artworks focusing on the legends and myths of ancient civilizations. Staying true to his modus operandi, the artist infuses the artworks with elements of street art and off-the-wall humor.

Via the passing down of myths and legends, ancient civilizations are often regarded as the origin of modern philosophy, science, and art. With “Cult From Space,” Leung explores his understanding of these long-gone civilizations. The collection comprises paintings, painted skateboard decks, and toy sculptures of aliens.

If you’re unfamiliar with  Leung and his work, the artist is a Hong Kong-based painter, illustrator, and graphic designer best known as the bassist of Cantonese hip-hoppers LMF (Lazy Mutha Fucka). Active since the ’80s, Leung has worked across different media and is a mainstay of the Cantonese underground cultural scene.
