Spotify Presents: #SR3MMPOCALYPSE, SR3MM, and Rae Sremmurd’s Take Over

Spotify and Rae Sremmurd Collaborate for a Party on a Catastrophic Scale

Rae Sremmurd has been breaking barriers since their debut in 2013. Their innovation, evolution, and variety of bangers prove that there is still something so dynamic about hip-hop duos. The beauty of their partnership is that they are two very different artists. For their third album, SR3MM, it’s a triple album….yes, a triple album equipped with 27 songs. Volume 1 is SR3MM, the duo’s collaboration. Volume 2 is Swaecation, brought to you by Swae Lee. Volume 3 is Slim Jxmmi’s debut on Jxmtro.

The duo, partnered with Spotify to continue celebrating such an artistic milestone. At a secret location in Los Angeles, Spotify presented #SR3MMPOCALYPSE, an invite-only event that was filmed to capture the performances of Swaecation and Jxmtro. Upon arrival, I found myself walking towards what appeared to be a random warehouse. We instead, were directed to an abandoned lot that was set up with three stages. The theme was apocalyptic, so it was in the cutest “ruins”. I received my wristband from the security guard, who informed me that Slim Jxmmi was right behind me. I’m not the “fangirl-ing” type, so I didn’t really respond to the security guard, but he made a point to let me know….I would see more of Slim Jxmmi inside.

Walked in, to Swae Lee performing on top of a construction-sized crate to a crowd of about 200 people who weren’t really appreciating the performance, but he still delivered.

The stage visuals, the trippy lights, and the smoke machines set an apocalyptic vibe that warmed up the crowd for Jxmmi’s entrance on top of a moving tow truck. It was THE entrance, as Jxmmi rode in with a Hennessey bottle in one hand a fist full of dollar bills in the other. Jxmmi rode the wave of Jxmtro for about 20 minutes until  Swae Lee joined him on the main stage to perform the best of SR3MM.

Being that the event was, “invite only”, the crowd didn’t really consist of Sremmurd’s fan base, but despite the low energy, the duo gave their all on the stage. The three-part album may have been a challenge for some, but SR3MM proves them to be the exception as Sremmurd continues to solidify themselves as “hip-hop rock stars”.
