Banksy Debuts Jean-Michel Basquiat-Inspired Art Piece

After taking over NYC in March – which included a rat piece, a protest mural at the historic Houston Bowery Wall, and another stencil piece gracing a wall in an empty lot on Coney Island Avenue – Banksy is back with even more art pieces, this time for the “Beyond the Streets” arts exhibition which kicks off this weekend in Los Angeles.

Something new from @banksy for @beyondthestreetsart

With the event known for showcasing graffiti, street art, paintings, sculpture, photography, installations and more throughout its 40,000+ square feet of industrial indoor and outdoor space, the featured piece from the elusive artist takes inspiration from Jean-Michel Basquiat’s Barbican Centre retrospective.

The graffiti stencil simply showcases another social theme, which highlights Basquiat’s “Boy and Dog in a Johnnypump” piece, and the main figure colored in black, being frisked by the law enforcement, shaded in white.

If you’re located or visiting the area, you can check out the exhibition at Beyond the Streets starting Sunday, May 6.
