Meek Mill Is Finally Close to Getting a New Trial

Rapper Meek Mill is finally getting closer to freedom after the Philadelphia District Attorney agreed the rapper should be given a new hearing, reports CNN.

The Philadelphia rapper was originally sentenced to two to four years in prison by Judge Genece Brinkley last November for violating his probation for charges relating to a 2008 drug and gun conviction, and had been denied bail for the second time in December 2017.

On Monday, Meek’s lawyer announced the rapper was granted a new hearing by Brinkely to discuss the possibility of another trial, the same judge who sentenced Meek to prison last November. She has agreed to give Meek another hearing, which has been scheduled for June.

The District Attorney’s office said in a statement that there are “questions about the credibility” of the officer who arrested Mill and others over the years, and they believe there is enough evidence to vacate Mill’s conviction, since the police officer landed on a list of officers suspected of lying in court and framing witnesses.
