Kendrick Lamar Just Won a Pulitzer Prize for ‘DAMN.’

Kendrick Lamar just caught another major W. His 2017 full-length DAMN., which won best rap album at the Grammys, was awarded the 2018 Pulitzer Prize in Music. This achievement makes him the first non-jazz or classical artist to win the prestigious award.

According to a statement from the organization, DAMN. is “a virtuosic song collection unified by its vernacular authenticity and rhythmic dynamism that offers affecting vignettes capturing the complexity of modern African-American life.”

Lamar recently made two guest appearances at Coachella weekend 1 – dropping in on Vince Staples’ set for “Yeah Right” as well as joining fellow TDE affiliate SZA on “All the Stars” and “Doves in the Wind”.
