Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor UFC Fight Expected to Happen With Modified Rules

The will they or won’t they surrounding a potential UFC matchup between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor continues to intensify, with the latest reports suggesting the fight is going to happen, but with significantly modified rules.

As Forbes points out, Omar Al Raisi, editor in chief of Dubai’s largest sporting news outlet, The Sports Journal, says Mayweather versus McGregor II is imminent and will take place in the Octagon. The bout will presumably be co-promoted by Mayweather, McGregor, and the UFC.

As you can see, the modified rules will not allow kicks, take downs, elbows, or knees, with each participant wearing four-ounce gloves. For all intents and purposes, it appears to be pretty much boxing in the Octagon.

Sources have also implied that the UFC was slated to announce the fight prior to Conor McGregor’s meltdown at the Barclays Center last Thursday. If all parties want this to happen sooner rather than later, they’ll of course need to tidy McGregor’s mess in a hurry.
